TeacherMate is designed for teachers to manage classes, track attendance, and organize student information. We prioritize data security and user privacy in everything we do.

• Class information (class names, subjects, schedules)

• Student information (names, roll numbers, contact details)

• Attendance records

2.2 Automatically Collected Information:

• Device information (model, OS version)

• App usage statistics (anonymized)

• Crash reports and diagnostics (if enabled)

• Location data (only when marking attendance with location, if enabled)

2.3 Information We DO NOT Collect:

• We do not collect sensitive student data (grades, medical info) unless you explicitly enter it

• We do not track your browsing history

• We do not sell your data to third parties

3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use your information for:

• Providing core app functionality (attendance tracking, class management)

• Syncing your data across devices (if cloud backup enabled)

We will NEVER:

• Use your data for advertising purposes

4.1 Local Storage:

• All data is stored locally on your device by default

• We use SQLite database with encryption for sensitive data

• Student contact information is encrypted using AES-256

4.2 Cloud Storage (Optional):

• You can optionally enable cloud backup to Firebase/Google Drive/iCloud

• Cloud backups are encrypted before upload

• You control when and what data is backed up

• You can disable cloud backup at any time

4.3 Security Measures:

• PIN/Biometric authentication (optional)

• Screenshot blocking for sensitive screens (optional)

• Auto-lock after inactivity (configurable)

• Secure data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)

5. DATA SHARING AND THIRD PARTIES

We share data only in these limited circumstances:

5.1 Service Providers:

• Firebase (Google) - For authentication and cloud storage (if enabled)

• Sentry - For crash reporting (if enabled, anonymized)

• These providers are bound by strict data protection agreements

5.2 Legal Requirements:

We may disclose data if required by law or to protect rights and safety.

5.3 With Your Consent:

• You can export and share your data (CSV, PDF reports)

• You control what data is shared and with whom

7. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY (COPPA COMPLIANCE)

TeacherMate is designed for teachers (18+) to manage student information.

• We do not knowingly collect data directly from children under 13

• Teachers are responsible for obtaining parental consent before entering student information

• We recommend not storing sensitive student data in the app

• Student names and roll numbers are sufficient for attendance tracking

If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, please contact us immediately.

8. DATA RETENTION

• Local data: Stored until you delete it or uninstall the app

• Cloud backups: Stored until you delete them or delete your account

• Deleted items: Moved to Recycle Bin for 60 days, then permanently deleted

• Account deletion: All data permanently deleted within 30 days

• Crash reports: Retained for 90 days for debugging purposes

9. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

If you use cloud backup:

• Data may be stored on servers in different countries

• We use Firebase (Google Cloud) which complies with GDPR

• Data is encrypted in transit and at rest

• You can choose to use only local storage to avoid international transfers

10. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

• Updating the "Last Updated" date

• Showing an in-app notification for significant changes
